Legal Update and Seller Financing. In Legal Update, we'll get an update on Michigan and federal statutes, case law and regulations relating to the purchase, sale and/or refinance of real estate. Will also include a review of RESPA and a list of best practices in response to the changing regulatory landscape. Seller financing we'll discuss a review of the most common types of seller financing and the legal aspects associated with each type. An in depth review of land contracts, seller-held mortgages, sale and lease back transitions and options to purchase. Includes a review of state and federal regulations that govern seller-financed transactions.

Class registration is $20. All registrations must be made online prior to the start of the class. Registration will not be available at the door. You must have your license number when registering.

Attend the Legal Update course and receive one hour of legal continuing education credit. Attend the Seller Financing course and receive one hour of legal continuing education credit. *Credit for Seller Financing only applies if course has not been taken previously.

Fraud, Data Security and NPI along with Appraisals. In Fraud, Data Security and NPI we will review state and national fraud schemes affecting the real estate industry. Includes a discussion of best practices and strategies to keep data secure and to identify, prevent and report fraudulent activity. Also includes a review of the legal requirements for the proper receipt, storage and disposal of Non Personal Information (“NPI”).  In Appraisals we'll cover the purpose, scope, timing, cost and analysis of the appraisal report and a legal update on underwriting and regulatory issues.

In Real Estate Transaction Agreements, we will cover the various agreements relating to real estate transactions, including purchase agreements, leases, rights of first refusals, options, and other contracts and agreements. Then, in the Closing Experience, we'll discuss lender clear to close requirements, clearing open title requirements on the commitment, most common closing table issues, the funding process, the unique attributes of split closings and post-closing activities that are required to properly fund, record and issue the final title policy.
