Unapologetically Secure

Impersonation fraud has become one of the most serious threats facing real estate closings. Bad actors pose as buyers, sellers and borrowers to redirect closing funds, and title and settlement companies have become a focal point for these schemes. Once that money moves, it is rarely recovered.

Sun Title has worked to prevent closing fraud for years. Identity verification is a standard step in every Sun Title closing, every transaction type, and every buyer, seller and borrower we close.

Verification runs through CertifID Match, which authenticates a government-issued ID, captures a live biometric match, and runs independent database checks. For anyone who cannot complete the digital flow, our team completes identity proofing following NIST identity assurance guidelines. Easy and intuitive on your end. Rigorous underneath.

The process runs on your phone in a few minutes, alongside the closing you already know, built to add protection without adding delay for legitimate parties. We call it being Unapologetically Secure because your money and your trust are worth the verification.

How CertifID Match’s Verification Works

Three steps, less than two minutes, and one less way for fraud to reach your closing.

You Receive a Secure Link

Ahead of closing, Sun Title sends a verification request through CertifID. The link opens on your phone or computer.

Your Identity Is Confirmed

Take a photograph of government-issued ID and take a quick selfie. On the back end, CertifID authenticates the document, matches it against your live image, and runs database checks.

Your Closing Moves Forward

Most people finish in just two minutes, and closing proceeds on schedule. If the digital flow isn't right for you, our team completes identity proofing directly, following NIST guidelines. Either way, no one closes unverified.

Identity verification will be a standard part of every Sun Title closing.

“Impersonation fraud has become one of the most serious threats facing real estate closings today, and we're doubling down on our efforts to prevent it.

’Unapologetically Secure’ means exactly what it says: we are not going to apologize for placing identity verification in front of every closing, for every buyer, seller and borrower, because our clients' money and their trust are worth protecting. The system is easy and intuitive for customers to use on the front end but rigorous when interrogating identity markers on the back end. This is about making fraud dramatically harder to pull off, and making sure every party at the table is exactly who they say they are.”
Tom Cronkright II, CEO of Sun Title

"Consumers place an enormous amount of trust and often their life savings into a real estate closing, and fraud can undo that in an instant.

Sun Title is showing real leadership by making identity verification a non-negotiable part of every closing instead of an optional add-on. This is exactly the kind of protection our clients need, and I'd like to see more of the industry follow their example.”
Darryl Matthews, associate broker with Keller William

"We designed Unapologetically Secure so that protecting our clients never comes at the cost of a smooth closing.

Our team built this verification process directly into the workflow our agents and customers already know, so it adds real security while minimizing friction to the consumer
Kara Chan, Director of Operations at Sun Title
